Description
The Honey Badger 5.56 SBR: Built for Performance
When Q introduced the Honey Badger, they set a new standard for what a compact, hard-use rifle could be. The 5.56 NATO version takes that same DNA and applies it to America’s most popular rifle cartridge. This isn’t just a shortened AR-15—it’s a purpose-built system designed from the ground up for reliability in a compact package.
What Makes This SBR Stand Out
What sets the Honey Badger 5.56 apart is its complete integration. The 10-inch barrel isn’t an afterthought—it’s matched to the gas system, bolt carrier group, and buffer system to ensure reliable cycling with both .223 and 5.56 ammunition. The closed bolt semi-auto action runs cleaner and cooler than many competitors, while the hard coat anodized finish stands up to Arizona’s desert conditions. At 4.5 ounces, you’re getting a rifle that handles like nothing else in its class.

Why This SBR Works in Arizona
Here in Arizona, we understand that space matters. Whether you’re navigating tight quarters or packing for a backcountry trip, the Honey Badger’s compact 20-inch overall length makes it practical for vehicle storage and quick deployment. The 5.56 chambering means you can use the same ammunition as your full-size AR-15, and the 10-inch barrel still delivers effective velocity for most defensive and recreational applications within our state’s typical engagement distances. At tucsonarms, we’ve seen these rifles perform flawlessly in everything from desert training courses to mountain hunting camps.
Other SBR Options
If you’re considering the Honey Badger platform, you might also want to check out the Honey Badger by Q™ – 300 BLK SBR for suppressed use, or the Q Minifix SBR – 300 Blackout for an even more compact package. For those interested in different calibers, the Q Fix SBR – 8.6 Blackout – 12″ offers impressive long-range performance in a short barrel configuration.
NFA-Regulated Firearm — ATF Form 4 Required
This is a short-barreled rifle (SBR) regulated under the National Firearms Act. Purchase requires an ATF Form 4 transfer, a $200 federal tax stamp, and approximately 30–120 days of ATF processing (eForm 4 is typically faster than paper). The firearm ships to a licensed FFL/SOT dealer of your choice; you take possession only after ATF approval.
SBRs are currently legal to own in most U.S. states. They remain prohibited or restricted for civilian possession in California, New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Iowa, Rhode Island, and Washington State. Check your state and local law before ordering. By placing an order you affirm that possession is lawful in your jurisdiction and that you are 21+ with no prohibiting factors under 18 U.S.C. §922(g).

After trying several SBRs, the Honey Badger’s reliability won me over. It eats everything I feed it. Only wish it came with iron sights, but that’s a minor gripe.

Perfect for vehicle defense and desert shooting. The 10-inch barrel still has enough velocity for coyotes out to 150 yards. Tucson Arms made the paperwork painless.
