The Apex Action Enhancement Kit with Tank Tread Commander Hammer is purpose-built for Springfield SA-35 and Browning Hi-Power pistols operating in demanding conditions — including the high-dust, extreme heat, and suppressor-heavy environment of Arizona. This kit addresses the specific reliability and ergonomic challenges shooters face when running these classic designs in the desert.
The kit includes a Wide Flat Trigger machined from billet steel, inspired by the late Jim Garthwaite’s work. The trigger face measures .31” wide, allowing your finger to sit lower on the face. This improves leverage on the pivoting trigger system, giving you more precise finger placement and a more positive feel compared to the original Browning Hi-Power trigger. The trigger is finished with ArmorLube™ Duplex DLC — a matte black coating that provides superior corrosion, abrasion, and wear resistance. In a dusty, sweaty, holster-heavy environment, that finish holds up better than standard coatings.
The Tank Tread Commander Hammer is a modern take on the classic Commander or “Ring” hammer. The cocking surface features a checkered texture for positive thumb traction — critical when wearing gloves or when your hands are dusty or sweaty. The hammer includes an integrated over-cocking limit pad and a spur angle designed to eliminate hammer bite. The hammer hook geometry is matched to the Mk 1 Balanced Sear, so you get a clean, crisp trigger break without needing to stone or modify engagement surfaces.
The Mk 1 Balanced Sear has nose geometry engineered to match the hammer hook profile precisely. This eliminates guesswork and fitting. The Balanced Sear Lever, paired with the included Sear Lever Spring, addresses a known limitation of the original Browning design. In the factory setup, the sear lever can experience inertia-related rotation as the slide goes into battery. This puts a limit on how light and crisp the pull can be. By balancing the sear lever and biasing it away from the sear’s contact pad using the spring, the kit greatly reduces the risk of hammer follow at lower pull weights. That means you can run a lighter, crisper trigger pull with confidence — even in a suppressor-heavy setup where fouling and carbon buildup accelerate wear.
