The fixture securely clamps your barrel in a vertical orientation for milling the hood length to match your host slide. This vertical hold keeps the barrel stable and square to the cutter, giving you clean, repeatable cuts. All necessary mounting hardware is included with the fixture, so you don’t need to hunt for extra bolts or washers. The brass bolt included in the kit prevents galling and marring on the barrel steel — a critical feature when you’re working on precision components. We strongly recommend against using steel or stainless-steel bolts, as those can permanently damage the barrel surface.

For fitting the bottom pad of the barrel, this fixture is not designed for that operation. Instead, place the barrel atop a set of parallels in your vise with the top flat surface against the parallels and the vise jaws gripping the left and right walls of the barrel. That method gives you the control needed for bottom pad fitting without risking movement or chatter.
