Description
This Basic Forward Set Trigger Kit from Apex is a direct drop-in upgrade for your polymer frame Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 pistol. Designed and tested in demanding environments, this kit focuses on one thing: drastically reducing trigger travel and reset without changing pull weight or requiring a gunsmith. For shooters in Arizona, that means less dust and grit working their way into a long, mushy factory pull, and a trigger that resets faster in the heat.
This kit replaces the factory trigger and sear lever with two precision components that must be installed together. The solid aluminum trigger body is hard coat anodized for long-term durability against holster wear and desert sand. It features a center-mounted pivoting safety that is more reliable than the original when dirty. The included Forward Set Sear Actuator is the key component: it physically moves the striker release point forward, which shortens the distance your finger has to move between shots. Combined, these parts reduce total trigger travel by approximately 35%, including over-travel, and produce a noticeably shorter, crisper reset.
What this kit does NOT do:
- It does not smooth out the pre-travel or the trigger pull feel. (If you want a smoother pull, add the Ultimate Striker Block.)
- It does not include replacement springs to adjust pull weight. (The complete Forward Set Trigger Kit or the upcoming Special Sear Kit for Basics is required for weight adjustment.)
- It does not change the trigger pull weight significantly. Expect the pull to remain in the 4 to 6 lb range, consistent with factory variance based on your specific sear and striker.
Specs & Fitment:
- Compatibility: Fits all polymer frame Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 pistols (full-size, compact, and Shield Plus models).
- Construction: Trigger body is CNC-machined from 7075 aluminum, hard coat anodized black. Sear actuator is precision ground tool steel.
- Installation: Direct drop-in. No fitting, filing, or special tools required. Both components must be installed together for safe function.
- Suppressor-friendly benefit: The reduced over-travel and shorter reset allow you to keep the trigger pinned to the rear during a suppressed firing cycle, minimizing the chance of a short-stroke malfunction common with heavy suppressors.
- Heat
