Description
The Apex Extended and Single Sided Mag Release is a direct, drop-in replacement for the factory magazine release on your large frame FN pistol. Designed specifically for the demands of an Arizona desert shooter, this component is built to function reliably under high heat, heavy dust, and extended use with a suppressor.
Machined from solid bar stock steel, fully heat treated, and finished in a durable Black Oxide coating, this mag release resists corrosion and wear from sweat, grit, and holster friction. The extended length of the button gives you a more positive purchase, allowing you to drop a mag without breaking your grip or fumbling with gloves on. The angled, serrated face provides tactile feedback so you can find and press the release quickly, even when your hands are slick or your focus is downrange.
This is a single-sided, unidirectional design. You choose the Left Hand or Right Hand version based on your shooting hand. There is no ambidextrous lever to snag on gear or catch on brush during a reload. It stays clean, simple, and where it belongs.
Key Benefits for the Desert Shooter:
- Reliable in extreme heat: Steel construction won’t warp or lose tension like polymer parts can when left in a hot truck or on a sun-baked range table.
- Dust resistant: The extended button clears debris more easily than the factory flush release, reducing the chance of a stuck or sluggish mag drop in dusty conditions.
- Suppressor-friendly: When running a can, your grip and hand position shift forward. The extended reach of this release keeps your thumb in the right place for a fast reload without shifting your support hand.
- Easy installation: Direct drop-in. No fitting, no filing, no special tools. Installation procedure is identical to the FN 509 magazine release.
